Brick Township Programs

Age range of individuals served: 21 and up
Type of Setting(s): Supervised apartments
Geographic Location(s): Brick Township, New Jersey
Licensing/Approvals: New Jersey Dept. of Human Services licensed

This supervised apartment program offers individuals the security of round-the-clock access to staff while also offering the privacy and increased autonomy of one and two-bedroom apartments. Residential staff members provide support when needed with transportation, money management, medication administration, meal planning and preparation, socialization, community integration, and more.

An employment specialist and job coaches assist residents with seeking and maintaining community employment. Other residents attend structured day programs staffed by vocational instructors. Staff members help residents find rewarding jobs in the community and successfully maintain their employment.

Six staff members reside in the complex and rotate 24-hour on-site, on-call responsibilities to provide additional support in the event of an emergency. The program offers residents the services of a nurse case manager, who monitors the medical care of the residents by maintaining contact with community providers. The nurse also provides training to staff and residents and monitors medication issues.

The program is located on an attractive seven-acre wooded site in Brick Township, just minutes from some of the New Jersey shore's finest beaches, and within 90 minutes of either New York City or Philadelphia. Individuals in the program are involved in a variety of community events, resources and activities, including beaches, parks, cultural and sporting events, shopping and more.

Outcomes
The Bancroft Brick Township Program fills a gap between the group home and supervised apartment models that leaves some individuals lacking appropriate supports. The Brick programs close this gap. Some individuals have well-developed living skills and do not need constant supervision, but the supervised apartment model may leave them geographically isolated from peers and staff. The Brick program allows for independence and autonomy while offering the security of staff and peers in close proximity at all times.

Residential staff members provide support when needed with transportation, money management, medication administration, meal planning and preparation, socialization, community integration, and more.
