Community Services for Adults is committed to offering each individual served the opportunity for optimal growth, respect as a unique and able (rather than disabled) person, and the experience of living in the least restrictive environment feasible. Unlike many providers, Bancroft's Community Services for Adults provide both residential and vocational supports to the people served, enhancing our ability to provide coordinated, individualized services. An array of living arrangements offers individuals several different options from which to choose, based on the individual's support needs. Utilization of a nurse case management system provides unique and effective medical/health oversight. The Life Enrichment and Recreation Network (L.E.A.R.N.) provides those served an array of evening and weekend educational and recreational opportunities throughout the year. An experienced administrative and supervisory team provides excellent opportunities to engage in self-advocacy activities both on a state and national level.
Families are encouraged to be active members of the team that supports their loved one. There is regular ongoing contact between families and program staff, including completion of a Confirmation of Understanding upon admission that is updated when needed to help ensure an understanding of expectations in a wide range of areas.
Outcomes
Bancroft's Adult Residential Programs provide individuals the opportunity
to increase their independence and to be as active as possible in the communities
in which they reside. Sixty-four percent of those served live in group homes
or apartments with three or fewer other individuals. Eighty-five percent
live with four or fewer other individuals.
