Bancroft’s Secondary Education Program provides both an academic and vocational training experience for students ages 14 to 21 that is appropriately designed at each child's current functioning level. This allows the student to be reinforced by his/her success in tasks in accordance with state Core Curriculum Standards. The skills taught provide positive outcomes, as measured by standard and alternative proficiency assessments. The program design allows the student to develop gradually the academic and vocational skills necessary to be successful in post-secondary experiences.

Bancroft remains focused throughout the child’s placement on the need to prepare each student for graduation at age 21. The program prepares both the student and parents for the transition to adult life. Programs focus on developing student skills in the areas of academic, vocational, job skills and the daily living skills to allow students to enjoy the most independent lifestyle possible. Research proven behavioral intervention strategies successfully address behavioral obstacles, allowing each student to progress toward greater independence.

Outcomes
Each year the Secondary Education Program surveys graduates to determine their post-graduation status. The results of these follow-up surveys over the past 10 years indicate that an average of 65% of the graduates maintained paid employment after graduation. Another 25% of graduates were successfully transitioned to adult day training programs.

The surveys also provide information as to the type of employment the graduates have been able to obtain. This information is utilized to modify the vocational program to maximize program effectiveness and outcomes. Other outcome measures include a quarterly outcome measurement system, family satisfaction survey, employer satisfaction survey and student satisfaction survey. The results of these assessments clearly indicate that graduates, families and other stakeholders are satisfied with the services Bancroft's Secondary Education Program is providing.
