Bancroft has supported children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community living settings for many years. We operate over 100 homes and apartments in many neighborhoods throughout Southern and Central New Jersey and Delaware, and recently added a Philadelphia program.
We go beyond simple community integration. Our goal is community inclusion. We recognize that the people we support want the same things as everyone else: not just to live in the community, but to participate in the community. At Bancroft, we make that happen.
Our community living programs help the people we support achieve this goal by:
Bancroft's homes are safe, pleasant, and supportive environments. Staff members assist persons served when needed to prepare nutritious meals, and provide transportation to daily activities. Nurse case managers coordinate each person's medical care, and staff members administer medications to individuals who are not able to do so independently, as directed by health professionals.
Each individual is encouraged to participate in the home and community to the fullest extent possible. Families are welcome members of the circle of support that is responsible for supporting each person's individualized plan. Adults are given ample opportunities to engage in self-advocacy through Bancroft groups or other state, county or other groups.
