Bancroft NeuroHealth Receives Major Grant to Support Technology Improvements
Haddonfield, NJ – Bancroft NeuroHealth has received a $300,000 grant from Marilyn Ware to support technology improvements throughout the organization. In honor of this substantial gift, Bancroft’s Management Information Systems Department will function as a part of the Marian S. Ware Technology Center at Bancroft, which has been named in honor of Ms. Ware’s mother.
The grant funding will enable Bancroft to significantly upgrade their technology infrastructure, while improving access to computers for persons served, including assistive technology. For example, the funding will improve access to computers in classrooms and group homes allowing for increased educational opportunities and communication with family and friends. A Distance Learning Program is also being developed that will bring the world to Bancroft students at Voorhees Pediatric Facility, who are unable to travel or even leave the facility.
Marilyn Ware currently serves as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Finland. Ambassador Ware is a lifetime advocate of farmland and open space preservation, assistance for abused families and early childhood education and care. She is one of the founders of the Janus School, a private day school for children with learning disabilities, and a co-founder of the Lancaster Farmland Trust, the most successful farmland preservation trust in the nation.
According to Raymond Welsh, Bancroft NeuroHealth Board Chairman, “Ms. Ware is well known for her generosity and compassion for others, and we appreciate her support and commitment to improving services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, brain injuries and other neurological impairments. The technology provided by this gift will allow those we serve to achieve greater independence and participation in society, both important goals of our organization.”
