Success Story
Robert Timmons’ life changed in a flash when he fell off a ladder and sustained a traumatic brain injury. But thanks to Bancroft’s in-home and community-based therapy, Robert’s life is back on track.
“We never thought [my dad] would be able to drive or handle his daily activities. He’s phenomenal now,” says daughter Denise Smith Greene. “We think he is 90-percent back.”
Impairments in cognitive functioning are among the most common and significant problems that can lead to disability following an acquired brain injury. Treatment of these cognitive disorders is central to the recovery process, due to the widespread impact that cognitive impairments have on personal safety, functional independence, productive living, and social interaction. Throughout treatment, the individual’s strengths and needs are carefully considered in the development of goals; and specific, practical strategies are implemented to promote recovery.
Bancroft provides Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy services in an individual’s own home and/or community settings. This therapy may be offered as a separate service or in conjunction with out-patient rehabilitation therapy provided in our Cherry Hill, Brick and Plainsboro locations. Therapists work to maximize functional skills necessary for independent living, community access, and return to work, school, or other productive activities.
