Bancroft’s 20th annual Butterfly Ball was a record-smashing success! The Feb. 9 event raised more than $450,000 and hosted 400 guests – exceeding any previous Bancroft fundraiser.

Featuring sportscaster Michael Barkann of Comcast Sports Network as volunteer emcee, the black-tie gala raised funds for our programs for people with autism, acquired brain injuries and other intellectual or developmental disabilities.

“Bancroft helps people with disabilities achieve what others never thought possible,” said Bancroft President Toni Pergolin. She noted that the Ball’s proceeds will provide more opportunities for children and adults with disabilities, including access to current technology and modern facilities. “More families will have peace of mind,” she added.

VIPs and honorees at the Ball, from left: Bancroft President and CEO Toni Pergolin, honoree Rob Curley, South Jersey Market President for TD Bank; honorees Barbara and Sheldon Berkman; sportscaster Michael Barkann of Comcast Sports Network; and Bancroft Board Chairman Martin A. To see more photos from the Ball, click here.

Held at The Merion in Cinnaminson, the Ball spotlighted several community leaders, who received special awards during the festivities:

The prestigious Margaret Bancroft Award was presented to Barbara and Sheldon Berkman of Hopewell Township, N.J., for their exemplary support of people with disabilities. The award is named for Bancroft’s founder.

The Corporate and Community Leadership Award was presented to TD Bank and Rob Curley, TD’s South Jersey Market President, for their outstanding commitment to Bancroft over many years.

The evening was rounded out by dinner, dancing, live music and a silent auction. The Rhythm Players – a drum circle of Bancroft students – provided a rousing opening for the dinner. A former Bancroft student entertained guests during the VIP reception with her beautiful harp playing.

Over the years, the Ball has raised more than $3 million for Bancroft programs, with “each and every dollar directed to improve the lives of those we serve,” said Pergolin. “We are so grateful for this incredible support, which enables us to fulfill our vital mission.”

Major sponsors for this year’s Butterfly Ball include Mark and Pnina Mintz, Lynda and Stewart Resnick, Joanne and Ray Welsh, Stewart Business Systems, and Costanza Builders.
