Wishing you and your
family all the very best for the Holiday Season
and a peaceful and joyous New
Year! |
Staff perform during this year's annual
Holiday Show. Look for more pictures from this
event in the next issue of the Family
Buzz.
Looking back on '09: year in
pictures 2009 was a
great year for Bancroft as Phillies' Greg Dobbs
came back to play ball with our students and then
host our Butterfly Ball; the Mullica Hill Program
took a cruise down the Delaware River on the
Spirit of Philadelphia; the Bancroft School at the
Voorhees Pediatric Facility had its first ever
Soundbeam extravaganza concert; and welcomed the
Elmwood Park Zoo to our Early Education Program
along with many other memorable moments. We've
created a slideshow with pictures taken throughout
the year. We hope you enjoy them!

Joyful
Noise spreads holiday cheer
By Nancy Longo
Member, Joyful Noise Advisory Board and
Bancroft Family Member
On Tuesday, December 15, 2009, Joyful Noise
presented its holiday concert at St. Mary's
Catholic Nursing Home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Members of Joyful Noise, directed by Allison Fromm
and Cathy Sonnenberg, enthusiastically sang for a
very receptive audience of about 150 listeners.
All enjoyed the sing-a-long. Singers were
proud and glowed with all the positive accolades
from family, friends and residents.
We were
honored to have Bancroft's Vice President,
Clinical Services and Chief Medical Officer,
Caroline Eggerding, and her husband, Larry Berger,
sing a trio with Joyful Noise Director Allison
Fromm. Their song, "Be Careful, Don't Tear the
Paper," with lyrics about re-using wrapping paper
and greeting cards, brought laughter and cheers
from all. Joyful Noise on Public
Radio: Sunday, December 27
Joyful Noise will be the subject of an
hour-long public radio program on Sunday, December
27, from 6-7 PM, EST. Keepin' the Faith host,
Steve Shoemaker, will interview Joyful Noise
Director Allison Fromm and Composer Alice Parker
on WILL-AM580 in Illinois. Brief recordings of
Joyful Noise's singing may also be aired during
the program.
Friends everywhere can listen
live as the radio broadcast streams online. Go to
www.will.illinois.edu and click on the top menu
bar AM580 LIVE. On the pull-down menu, click
either RealAudio or Windows Media. These are the
recommended options for listening. (These audio
players can be downloaded in advance from the
AM580 LIVE pull-down menu. They take just a few
minutes to download.) Listeners may call in during
the program at 1-800-222-9455. The show will also
be archived for online listening about a week
after its live
broadcast.

 Students and staff
from the Bancroft School participate in the
PhilAbundance Food
Drive.
The Bancroft School supports
local food
drive
We're proud
to share that this year's food drive coordinated
by Ginny Kassa's class - Room 45 - in Cooley Hall
in Haddonfield was a great success! Thanks to the
efforts of both students and staff, many boxes -
packed to the brim with food - were delivered to
the PhilAbundance Food Drive, which will result in
many, many area families having food on their
tables this Holiday Season. Many thanks to
everyone who participated in coordinating this
delivery, as well as those who donated. Great job
everyone!
