2.17.10 | Bancroft Receives the NJBIZ Non-Profit Innovation Award

The organization is awarded for its collaboration and partnership with Wawa

Haddonfield, NJ—February 17, 2010— Bancroft (www.bancroft.org), a human service provider of education, residential, vocational and rehabilitation services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries and other neurological challenges, was recently named the recipient of the NJBIZ Non-Profit Innovation Award for its collaboration with Wawa.

Bancroft was honored at the NJBIZ Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, February 9, in Somerset, New Jersey where approximately 400 guests were in attendance. Bancroft President, Toni Pergolin, accepted the award, with Wawa representatives, Jim Shortall and Donna Dellinger. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a special award with our partner, Bancroft,” said Shortall, Director of Store Operations of Wawa. “We are proud to work with Bancroft in supporting its vocational training program and the creation and maintenance of the convenience store within the school, and look forward to seeing those they serve receive the opportunities to continue to grow and thrive in the future.”

“As partners in our missions, we are very pleased to share this very special recognition with Wawa. Both organizations understand what each other does for the community and the great need for the types of services offered at Bancroft,” said Pergolin. “The commitment shown by Wawa ultimately helps the people we serve to learn new skills, participate in the community and lead more fulfilling lives.”
For over fifteen years, Bancroft and Wawa have shared in each other’s special mission and collaborated, which in turn has initiated a strong partnership among the two organizations to this day. During the awards ceremony, Bancroft and Wawa were honored among seven New Jersey organizations in other award program categories. NJBIZ hosts this special event to promote innovative leadership and thinking among those in the non-profit world.
