Friends of Bancroft

The Friends of Bancroft is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting Bancroft programs and services both financially and through volunteerism. Since 1972, the group has been a dedicated and caring team, using its energy and enthusiasm to support Bancroft's mission.

The Friends of Bancroft supports a wide range of projects and requests that benefit the children and adults served by Bancroft. One of the group's major efforts is to support the organization's Holiday Wish List each December. This project fills "wish lists" submitted by children and adults served by Bancroft who do not have family or would not otherwise enjoy the many bounties the holiday season brings. Other projects include supporting the school's book-a-thon and photography contests, providing savings bonds for students receiving awards and purchasing musical instruments for the music class, among others. The Friends also solely support and staff the Bancroft School library.

The group has informal meetings five times a year; some meetings are more structured working meetings, and others are opportunities for socialization, where inviting others is encouraged. The Friends also invite guest speakers to meetings, to speak on topics of interest to the group.

All volunteers registered through Bancroft's Volunteer Services are considered to be associate members of the Friends of Bancroft.

Funds are raised through dues paid by full members ($15 a year), and the annual Friends of Bancroft raffle. The raffle is the primary fund-raising project for the group, with all proceeds donated to program and services for those served by Bancroft. Raffle winners receive a Visa gift card in the amount of $300 (first place), $200 (second place), and $100 (third place).
