Recognizing Disability Employment Awareness Month

#InclusionWorks Showcases Disability Employment

That there’s a hashtag – #InclusionWorks – to promote National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October means vocational training and supported employment is now a “thing.” For us at Bancroft, it’s been our “thing” for decades as we work every day to ensure those who can and want to get the opportunity to work, too.

In recognition of the month, Bancroft is sponsoring Demystifying the Myths: Employing the Disabled Brings Unique Skills to the Workforce on Friday, October 21st, a Camden County Workforce Development Board event to promote inclusionary hiring practices to regional businesses.

We know the importance of working with our community businesses to provide opportunities to those we serve. We have some incredible support from organizations such as Wawa, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Whole Foods, Acme, and Home Depot…just to name a few. We thank them for opening their doors and working with our clients to provide meaningful employment.

Through Bancroft’s Vocational Training and Support Employment services, individuals develop skills needed for a variety of jobs and are then matched up with employers who need dedicated employees with those skills. Our job coaches provide support ensuring these new employees are successful on the job.

Please join me in applauding the 20 people who work on the Vocational Training and Support team at Bancroft, under the leadership of Avi Glickman on the I/DD side and Lois Forman at Bancroft NeuroRehab. We are fortunate to have the most skilled and compassionate job coaches preparing 150 individuals in our programs for success in the workplace. Bancroft’s own #InclusionWorks!

I invite you to learn more about the incredible work our job coaches do and about the employment services we provide here at Bancroft.
