Families: Urge Gov. Murphy to fund higher DSP wages

It’s time to remind the Governor that we need funding to increase DSP wages for the coming year.

With 2019 coming to a close, Gov. Phil Murphy and his administration are already making funding decisions for next year — and the NJ Association of Community Providers & Coalition for a DSP Living Wage are asking for families’ help in urging the governor to fund salary increases for direct support professionals in Fiscal Year 2021.

It’s essential he sees the faces of the thousands of family members, caregivers and others who care about this critical issue across NJ — so the Coalition has has created a picture/video campaign to do exactly that.

Here’s what to do:

1) Print template: Print and sign your name to the bottom of the message to Governor Murphy. Click here for template.
2) Take picture: Have someone take a picture of you holding the template.
3) Upload and post: Post the picture on your social media pages with the message below. Twitter is preferred, but Facebook will also work:
A #StrongerFairerNJ means competitive wages for DSPs – every time NJ’s minimum wage is increased, DSP wages MUST be increased as well #IndexDSPWages #WeCantWait @GovMurphy @NJDHS @NJDSPCoalition
Feel free to write your own post, but please be sure to use #IndexDSPWages and tag @GovMurphy and the @NJDSPCoalition in your message, so that we can track and share.
4) Share with friends: Share the picture template with your colleagues, friends and family and encourage them to participate, tagging @GovMurphy and using #IndexDSPWages #StrongerFairerNJ #WeCantWait. The more faces online, the stronger our message to the Governor!
Don’t Have a Twitter Account or Facebook Page?
You can still participate if you don’t have social media pages or would prefer not to post on your personal sites. Just email your picture to libby@absnj.com and your picture will be posted on the Coalition’s social media pages.
