A new initiative at Bancroft’s Preschool & Early Education Program helps young students explore responsibilities and early job skills, sparking curiosity and preparing them for what’s next.

At Bancroft’s Preschool & Early Education Program in Mount Laurel, students are getting a head start on exploring the “World of Work” through a new and exciting initiative launched this school year – Junior Job Explorers. Designed especially for younger learners, the program is all about building confidence, fostering independence, and introducing them to the “World of Work” in a fun way.

Many students in the Preschool & Early Education Program go on to attend Bancroft’s Welsh Campus for students ages 11–21, where career preparation is woven into the curriculum.  Junior Job Explorers offers students in 5th grade and younger a playful, hands-on experience that makes learning about work and responsibility both fun and age-appropriate.

So far, students have enjoyed opportunities such as:

  • Custodial cleaning: Helping to keep their classrooms tidy while building self-care and responsibility skills.
  • Pretzel sales: Learning customer service, money skills, and social interaction through snack-time business fun.
  • Recycling paper: Collecting classroom paper and placing it in recycling bins to learn about environmental care and stewardship.
  • Distributing supplies: Lending a helping hand to deliver materials across classrooms, promoting teamwork and cooperation.

“We’re excited to offer this meaningful experience to our young learners,” said Pat Senft, Education Supervisor. “Giving them the chance to take on different roles and responsibilities helps build independence and confidence at an early age.”

Senft says the program is off to a strong start and looks forward to seeing how it continues to grow and evolve.

“This is just the beginning,” Senft added. “We’re excited to see how these experiences will shape our students’ growth, both now and in the years ahead.”
