Community Comes Together for Autism Town Hall & Resource Fair at Bancroft

Bancroft proudly hosted its first-ever Autism Town Hall & Resource Fair on Saturday, May 3, at the Welsh Campus in Mount Laurel. The event brought together families, first responders, service providers, and advocates for a day of learning, connection, and community.

The event was held in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Camden County Partnership for Children, and the Mount Laurel Police Department. With dozens of vendors, hands-on activities, and informative breakout sessions, it offered families a welcoming space to explore resources and build relationships with local support networks.

Speakers included Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, Assemblyman Balvir Singh, Burlington County Commissioner Randy Brolo, Mount Laurel Councilwoman Silvia Catalan-Culnan, and Mount Laurel Police Chief Timothy Hudnall, along with representatives from CHOP’s Center for Autism Research, Camden County Partnership for Children, and Bancroft leadership. Their support showed a shared commitment to creating more inclusive communities for individuals with autism and their families.

Breakout sessions gave attendees the chance to hear from professionals, self-advocates, and community leaders on practical, real-life topics — including tools for first responders, using smart technology at home, planning for the future, and understanding neurodiversity.

DJ Blake, a local self-advocate, brought a festive energy to the day, joined by the WOW Mobile Video Game Truck, face painting, and unlimited Kona Ice, which was a big hit on the unseasonably warm day.

“This event was really about connection and community. We’re so grateful to everyone who made it possible and to everyone who came out to support it,” said Kristina Swindle, SVP of Children’s and Autism Services at Bancroft. “I can’t wait to do it again next year!”

Bancroft extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, to the vendors and breakout presenters who gave their time and expertise, and especially to the partners who helped bring this idea to life. The Autism Town Hall & Resource Fair was a true team effort and a meaningful step toward building stronger, more inclusive communities.
