Katie graduated from Neumann University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education prior to joining Bancroft in 2013. As a Direct Support Professional in the Lindens Program, Katie was able to learn the importance of Applied Behavioral Analysis as well as the overall operations of the Pediatric Program. Metcalf applied her newly acquired teaching skills and implemented them in a non-traditional classroom where she easily learned to admire that each day was different and as much as she was teaching, she was also learning.
Over the first year, Katie became a Program Manager in the Pediatrics Program where she had the greatest pleasure working with a team that had one clear vision of seeing those we support succeed. In the next three years, Katie transitioned to the Lakeside Program then Adult Employment Services at the Jacob Schaefer Center, where she gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and worked closely with the clinical teams to provide an enriched environment for those we support. In this role, Katie oversees both group home and supported apartments that serve adults with a wide range abilities. Her favorite part of the role is developing, building relationships, and supporting her team as well as working hands-on in group homes.
