Education, enrichment, and therapeutic supports centered on the needs of students with autism and developmental disabilities.

The Bancroft School is a unique educational program that aims to empower students with autism by providing teachable moments throughout their day. In addition to traditional academic subjects, the program also focuses on daily living and social skills. Art and music, along with Adaptive Physical Education, Enrichment activities, and an activity pool for water safety, swim instruction, and recreation, are all part of the Bancroft experience.

Program Features

At The Bancroft School, students benefit from a blend of academics, therapies, and enrichment designed to support growth at every stage:

Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Tailored academic goals supported by teachers, clinicians, and paraprofessionals.

Integrated Clinical Supports
Speech, occupational, and physical therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), counseling, and behavioral health delivered in a collaborative, classroom-embedded model.

Adaptive Communication
Access to devices and tools that give every child a voice.

Enrichment & Play
Arts, music, culinary, adaptive PE, field trips, and schoolwide events.
Vocational Readiness
Career exploration and daily living skill development begin in high school and expand through hands-on training in real-world settings.

Rotating High School (RHS)
A dynamic program where students transition between classrooms and teachers throughout the day, building independence, flexibility, and social skills while preparing for less restrictive environments.

MoveUp Program (Ages 18–21)
Bridges school and adulthood with authentic, supported work experiences, extended community internships, and personalized vocational training, supported by job coaches and vocational teachers.

A school store, ShopRite grocery, and Wawa convenience store provide students with safe, structured opportunities to build retail, service, and financial literacy skills.

 

Comprehensive Therapeutic Teaming

Every classroom is supported by dedicated clinicians to ensure real-time adjustments aligned with each student’s IEP.

The Welsh Campus

The Bancroft School is located on the 80-acre Raymond & Joanne Welsh Campus in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, along with the Lindens Neurobehavioral Program and Campus Residences. It is expertly designed to serve the extraordinary needs of special education students ages 12 to 21 and their families from the region and around the country.

As part of the Bancroft School Network, our educators and clinicians work in sync to personalize supports and help students thrive in and beyond the classroom.

A Legacy of Education and Trust

The Bancroft School is a pioneer in the field of special education programs. Since 1883 when Margaret Bancroft first established her school with one student, The Bancroft School has continued to provide children with autism the opportunities to reach their full potential.

Bancroft meets them where they are, offering life-long learning through a wide range of services, from Transition to Adult Day and Residential Programs to Supported Employment and more.
