Special Olympics New Jersey Suspends All Activities Involving Athletes

Athletes, Coaches, Volunteers, Families and Friends of Special Olympics New Jersey,

Due to the rapidly developing situation involving the Coronavirus and as confirmed cases continue to
grow throughout New Jersey and throughout the country, Special Olympics New Jersey has decided
to suspend all activities involving our athletes until at least March 31, 2020. This includes all
training and competition, athlete leadership and health activities at all levels of the organization, as
well as at the SONJ Sports Complex, including the Wawa Exercise and Wellness Center.

Again, all SONJ activities that involve SONJ athletes are suspended until at least March 31, 2020.

This was a very difficult decision, however, the safety, health, and well-being of our entire Special
Olympics New Jersey community will always be our top priority. Thank you for your patience and
understanding as we continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to assess
the situation in collaboration with federal, state and local leadership to make the most well-informed
decisions moving forward.

Sincerely,
Heather B. Andersen
President & CEO
