With more than two decades of experience, Hancock will lead Bancroft into its next chapter of growth.
Bancroft has named Brian Hancock to serve as President & CEO. Hancock has served in an acting capacity since June, following leadership changes after the retirement of longtime CEO Toni Pergolin, who led Bancroft for 22 years.
Hancock joined Bancroft in 2022 as Chief Program Officer before becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2025 and Acting President & CEO in 2026. Prior to Bancroft, he served as Executive Director at Devereux New Jersey and Chief Operating Officer at Robins’ Nest. Now, as Bancroft begins its three-year strategic plan, Hancock will begin to craft his vision for the future, while keeping Bancroft’s strong legacy alive.
“I am honored to be chosen to carry on Bancroft’s rich legacy,” said Hancock. “Bancroft, along with our partners from around the region, is poised to be a powerful voice for the future of care for those with disabilities. I look forward to providing more access to the services families so desperately need.” .
Hancock holds a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Wheaton College and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law. He previously served as President of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Association of Community Providers and has been involved in humanitarian and advocacy work supporting at-risk and incarcerated youth in the United States and internationally.
His work has earned several honors, including the Embracing the Legacy Award from Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps and the Spirit of Crazy Horse Award from Reclaiming Youth International.
“With Brian, we know we have the right person for the future of the Bancroft while we continue to provide critical services to those who need us,” said Bancroft Board of Trustees Chair, Oderah Nwaeze. “With so many changes and opportunities in our space, we knew we needed someone to lead the organization who had both the experience and the vision. We have that in Brian.”
