Bancroft Awarded Grant for Vocational Program

Bancroft Awarded Grant for Vocational Program

Bancroft was awarded a $20,000 grant by Greenspring Advisors, a boutique investment firm based in Towson, Maryland. This grant was made in support of the Bancroft NeuroRehab Vocational Program, which is completely grant-funded. The funds will support the Bancroft NeuroRehab Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) who conduct the program.

The Bancroft NeuroRehab Vocational Program supports more than 50 individuals who are pursuing local volunteer and employment opportunities as part of their rehabilitation journey. Participants are supported one-on-one by the dedicated COTAs, as well as by each other in group sessions. This program fills a crucial gap in services for individuals recovering from acquired and traumatic brain injuries; it provides the skills, training and support individuals need to pursue their vocational goals before they are eligible for a Division of Vocational Rehabilitation voucher from the state of New Jersey.

Each person’s rehabilitation journey and goals are unique; individuals who wish to pursue vocational education and training at Bancroft NeuroRehab are assessed for their readiness prior to enrolling in the program. Our aim is to help individuals who are ready take meaningful steps toward their vocational goals, many of whom were working prior to their injuries. By engaging them in robust volunteer and employment opportunities, we seek to help them restore their identities and independence, a key to rebounding, recovering and reconnecting after a brain injury. We thank Greenspring Advisors for partnering with Bancroft to fuel this critically-needed program.
