Bancroft has been honored for excellence in Occupational Therapy education by a consortium of universities from throughout the Philadelphia region.
The Fieldwork Educator of the Year award is given annually to a local fieldwork educator or clinical site by the Philadelphia Region Fieldwork and Capstone Consortium, which comprises degree programs from several colleges and universities, including Gwynedd Mercy University, Harcum College, Salus University, Stockton University, Temple University, Thomas Jefferson University, Widener University and University of the Sciences.
Bancroft hosted more than two dozen OT fieldwork students across its programs this year, including at The Bancroft School, the Preschool & Early Education Program, and at Bancroft NeuroRehab, which supports individuals with brain injury and neurological conditions.
Bancroft was selected for its commitment to developing a rigorous and well-planned educational program for OT and OTA students, and for supervisors who “consistently model exceptional clinical skills and compassionate care to fieldwork students, going above and beyond to ensure fieldwork students, achieve learning objectives at a pace and progression that meets their individual learning needs,” the consortium said.
Students who participated in fieldwork at Bancroft cited both their clinical supervisors and the hands-on experience gained within each program as central to their occupational therapy education.
Special recognition was given to Occupational Therapists Libby Gebhart from The Bancroft School and Alicia Cooley and Katrina Dodson, both from Bancroft NeuroRehab.
