As we approach a return to hybrid instruction in September, we know families and students have questions about everything from how classroom instruction will change – to how they can best support their child as he or she adjusts to these changes.
The Bancroft School team has compiled the following resources to help you and your child navigate these extraordinary circumstances.
Hybrid Learning Plans, 2020-21 School Year:
How Will School Look This Year?
These social stories can help you talk to your child about the coming school year – and prepare them for what will be different when they return to the classroom in September.
How Can I Help My Child Prepare?
We know the last several months have been challenging for Bancroft families. These strategies can help you work with your child between now and the first day of school to make the return to the classroom – and the continuation of hybrid learning – as smooth as possible.
Parents’ Guide to Google Classroom
This year, we will be using Google Classroom to help us support your child’s IEP goals, and all educational, social and vocational needs during virtual learning. Google Classroom allows our students, parents, and direct support professionals to see teacher-created materials, complete assignments, post messages, connect via Google Meet and more.
If you’ve never used Google Classroom, this step-by-step tutorial will show you how to make the most of this new learning tool.
Use these social stories to help familiarize your child with hand hygiene, social distancing and face coverings — both wearing them and interacting with others who will wear them.
Please always remember we are here to help your child have the best possible education experience at The Bancroft School. Our teams are always available to assist you throughout the school year – and help you manage this transition. Please reach out to your social worker with any questions or concerns.
We look forward to a great year ahead!
